Women’s improv troupe raises funds for Island charities

-

P.E.I.’s all-female improv troupe, Side Hustle, is returning to The Guild this fall with a series of comedic, off-the-cuff shows in support of Island housingrelated charities.

The series will kick off Friday, Oct. 25, with a portion of proceeds going to Blooming House Women’s Shelter Inc. who provide safe overnight shelter for women in the Charlottetown area.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and is comprised of two 45-minute sets.

Doors (and bar) open at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now for $20 and are available through The Guild online.

“Blooming House would not exist today without the amazing support of our generous community. We have created a safe, warm, welcoming environment and have filled a significant gap for vulnerable women who are experiencing homelessness in this city. But we are reminded every day that we can’t do any of it on our own. That's why we are so thankful for Side Hustle and their willingness to partner with us. We are thrilled and honoured to be part of this event,” said Liz Corney, cofounder of Blooming House.

Side Hustle, who have been performing together since 2017, features members Kirstin Lund, Patti Larsen, Caron Prins, Nancy McLure, Monica Rafuse, Sarah Brown, and Doris Jenkins.

Their brand of short and long-form improv games keeps audiences belly laughing from beginning to end. While audience members must be 19 years of age or older, Side Hustle’s anything-can-happen style of comedy is for everyone.

In addition to the October show for Blooming House, Side Hustle will perform Nov. 22 in support of Habitat for Humanity, and Dec. 6 in support of Anderson House

“We are delighted to be returning to The Guild this fall and couldn’t be happier to partner with Blooming House for our October show. Island audiences are simply the best and I know they will enjoy this series of shows, which will include a mix of brand-new games with some old favourites,” said Kirstin Lund, founding member of Side Hustle.
