Canadian Red Cross offers information sessions on Dorian relief, Nov. 5-8
The Canadian Red Cross is holding four information sessions this week for homeowners, small businesses and notfor-profit organizations that have already applied for or are still considering applying for the P.E.I. government's Provincial Disaster Financial Assistance program (PDFAP) for uninsurable, essential basic property loss due to post-tropical storm Dorian.
The province announced Oct. 3 that the Red Cross on its behalf would receive and process applications and distribute eligible amounts.
Applicants must register with the Red Cross no later than Nov. 29 by calling 1-800-863-6582, and submitting completed applications no later than Dec. 13, 2019.
To answer questions and offer inperson help, the Red Cross will offer information sessions at its Charlottetown office at 29 Paramount Dr. Following is the schedule: Nov. 5-6 – walk-in support, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., information session: noon to 2 p.m.; information session, 6-8 p.m.; , Nov. 7-8 – walk-in support, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., information session: noon to 2 p.m.
Each information session includes a 40-minute presentation, followed by 20 minutes for general questions and one hour for one-to-one individual support to homeowners, small businesses and not-for-profit organizations. Anyone who has not yet registered with the Red Cross can also do so on-site.
