PIGSKIN PICKS

-

The NFL heads into Week 9 with key games this week.

Cleveland Browns (2-5) at Denver Broncos (2-6) – The Browns moved the ball consistently versus New England last week but gave up 17 points on turnovers. Nick Chubb is a terrific running back for the Brown and they’ll beat a Denver club who will be without starting QB Joe Flacco. Green Bay Packers (7-1) at LA Chargers (3-5) – Forget about a match-up of Phil Rivers versus Aaron Rodgers. The Packers are a Super Bowl contender while the Chargers are a disappointing club going nowhere.

Indianapolis Colts (5-2) at Pittsburgh Steelers (3-4) – The Steelers had their hands full at home against Miami last week, but this Indy club is a real contender with a top notch QB in Jacoby Brissett. Indy is much more than a one-point favourite.

Washington Redskins (1-7) at Buffalo (5-2) – This is strictly a money line-only game. The Bills don’t score much but they’ll give up nothing against the Redskins.

Detroit Lions (3-3-1) at Oakland Raiders (3-4) – Both teams are terrible against the pass and both boast top quarterbacks in Derek Carr (Raiders) and Matt Stafford (Lions). Should be a wild, high-scoring game, but Raiders star running back Josh Jacobs will be the difference. New England Patriots (8-0) at Baltimore Ravens (5-2) – The Patriots have the best defence in football and they meet a Baltimore QB in Lamar Jackson, who is an explosive runner. Pats head coach Bill Belichick will turn the Ravens into a one-dimensional run team and shut it down completely. The Patriots by at least a TD. Congratulations to Anita MacDonald, who won the $1,400 Beagan Sunday NFL pool. She is one of many females following the NFL on a regular basis.
