- Compiled by Nicholas Oakes for Red Shores.

The top pacing mares in Eastern Canada will square off again this afternoon at Red Shores at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The 12-dash card begins at 12:30 p.m. with the top mares pace of the day lining up in Race 11 for a $2,550 purse. The Time To Win comes into the race sporting a win and second in her last two starts with Corey MacPherson subbing in as the driver for trainer Jackie Matheson and owner Woodmere Farms of Marshfield. The five-year-old daughter of Western Ideal is a three-time winner this season racing primarily at Rideau Carleton Raceway

outside Ottawa.

Maritime champion Arc Light moves into aged competition in this race but the threeyear-old filly has rail control for trainer-driver Marc Campbell and owner Grayland Farm of Gulf Shore, N.S. Dancers Pass (David Dowling) was a winner in her last two starts but takes on her toughest test to date in this race leaving from Post 3.

“The Time To Win was a bang-up second last week despite being first up before the half so if she's able to pick up some cover today instead of providing it she'll be hard to deny,” said race analyst Les MacIsaac.

Freddie and Star Photo are set to tangle in the Race 11 open trot for a $2,300 pot. Star Photo cruised to victory in his latest with a 28.4 final panel for driver Hughes and trainer Kevin Gillis. The veteran has Post 3 today while Freddie (Campbell) leaves from Post 2. Labero has quietly put together a solid season with five wins, fives second and three thirds and has rail control with Walter Cheverie in the seat.

SUNDAY

There has been nothing standing in the way of the winner’s circle for Rose Run Quest in the preferred ranks in recent week and he will look for more of the same in the featured event Sunday in Charlottetown.

The capital oval will host racing Saturday and Sunday for the next four weeks with post time at 12:30 p.m.

Sunday’s 13-dash program has the preferred pace hitting the track in Race 12 for a $2,900 purse. Rose Run Quest has the outside in the field of seven by virtue of his three straight victories at this level. Campbell trains and drives the son of If I Can Dream for owner Blair Hansen of Charlottetown.

Nogreatmischief leaves from Post 5 after a victory in the top class on closing day in Summerside for Cheverie. Screen Test has Post 6 with MacPherson at the lines after a third-place finish at this level last time out.

“Rose Run Quest has been so dominant in his last three starts that you got to believe the road to the winner’s circle goes through him again, Post 7 or not,” MacIsaac said.

The back-up pace will line up in Race 11 as Souverain looks to extend his four-race win streak with rail control for driver MacPherson and owner-trainer Phil Sizer of Kensington.
