Capture the Queen of Hearts is at the Fort Augustus Rec Centre, Fridays, with doors opening at 6:30 pm. Tickets are sold until 8 p.m. for a chance to win a growing jackpot.

A fall harvest roast pork supper is being put on by Sacred Heart Parish, Alberton, Sunday, Nov. 17. The deadline to purchase tickets is Nov. 15. Craig’s Cause Pancreatic Cancer Society hosts Light Up the Lake, a 5-km run/walk, on Saturday, Nov. 16, 7 p.m., at Joe Ghiz Park, Charlottet­own, to shine a light on pancreatic cancer. Participan­ts will gather at Holland College cafeteria and then head to the start/finish line. Registrati­on includes headlamps, snacks, glow batons, medals, plus a chance to win door prizes. Genealogic­al Society’s next public meeting is at Beaconsfie­ld’s Carriage House, corner of Kent and West streets, Charlottet­own, Nov. 16, 2-4 p.m. The guest speaker is genealogis­t Linda Jean Nicholson. Her presentati­on is titled: “Crossing the Pond for Research and Fun”. Admission is free and refreshmen­ts will be available.
