Fundraisers
Capture the Queen of Hearts is at the Fort Augustus Rec Centre, Fridays, with doors opening at 6:30 pm. Tickets are sold until 8 p.m. for a chance to win a growing jackpot.
A fall harvest roast pork supper is being put on by Sacred Heart Parish, Alberton, Sunday, Nov. 17. The deadline to purchase tickets is Nov. 15. Craig’s Cause Pancreatic Cancer Society hosts Light Up the Lake, a 5-km run/walk, on Saturday, Nov. 16, 7 p.m., at Joe Ghiz Park, Charlottetown, to shine a light on pancreatic cancer. Participants will gather at Holland College cafeteria and then head to the start/finish line. Registration includes headlamps, snacks, glow batons, medals, plus a chance to win door prizes. The P.E.I. Genealogical Society’s next public meeting is at Beaconsfield’s Carriage House, corner of Kent and West streets, Charlottetown, Nov. 16, 2-4 p.m. The guest speaker is genealogist Linda Jean Nicholson. Her presentation is titled: “Crossing the Pond for Research and Fun”. Admission is free and refreshments will be available. The meeting is a great opportunity to network with others and support genealogy and heritage by considering a membership in the society.
