Frank Dolan to wrap up lecture series on Nov. 27
Frank Dolan will give the final talk in the annual Fall Lecture Series at the Benevolent Irish Society today at 7:30 p.m. Admission is by donation.
Immigrating to Canada from Dublin in 1966, Dolan found work in Toronto with Unilever before joining the RCMP in December of that year. After training in Regina, he was posted for two years in Montague and then five years in Charlottetown before accepting postings in Alberta and Vancouver. After 25 years of service with the Mounties, he moved to Saint John, N.B., and worked for J.D. Irving in the Corporate Security branch.
An annual visitor to Ireland, Dolan built a holiday home in County Leitrim and still has close family ties both in Dublin and in Leitrim.
He and his wife, Carmel, now reside in Charlottetown.
His presentation at the BIS, which is located on North River Road in Charlottetown, will include a broad overview of Irish history, its impact and relevance to the Ireland of today, as well as recommendations, based on his own experience, on what to see and do while visiting Ireland.
In addition to suggesting itineraries for first time visitors, he will distribute free 2020 catalogues, pamphlets and maps from the Irish Tourist Board as well as from reputable Irishbased tour companies to all those in attendance. Although offering information geared in particular to the first-time visitor, he is not affiliated with any tour company.
The executive of the Benevolent Irish Society invites everyone to watch for information on the Winter Lecture Series lineup after the new year.
