A ‘Down Home Christmas’ coming to Milton Community Hall

Celebrate the special magic and music of the season with Janet McGarry & Wildwood as they present “A Down Home Christmas” at the Milton Community Hall on Saturday, Nov. 30, 7:30 p.m.

This popular long-running holiday show is hosted by McGarry and her husband, Serge Bernard, and features classic country and old-time bluegrass favourites.

McGarry is an acclaimed female vocalist, whose song catalogue now includes over 150 song titles and several CDs, collaborat­ions, along with special appearance­s highlighti­ng a near 20-year recording career. "Wildwood Rose" captured album of the year, and this year, her band Wildwood garnered gospel performanc­e of the year at the Eastern Canada Bluegrass Music Awards.

McGarry and Bernard will be joined on stage with Wildwood bandmates Gail Mullen on bass and vocals and Jason Ramsay on guitar.

They will be presenting a unique selection of seasonal music and stories from the early days of country and old-time music heard from deep in the hills of Appalachia.

The audience will also be invited to join in for a few singalong favourites with the band.

The hall, located at 7 New Glasgow Rd., Route 224, North Milton, is wheelchair-accessible. A canteen service is also available. Admission is $12 at the door.

In addition, visit the Milton Community Hall earlier in the day to attend its annual Christmas Craft Fair, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
