Plans in place to plow Hillsborough Bridge during construction work

-

Staff with the Department of Transportation is monitoring forecasted snow accumulation and making plans to allow for plowing the Hillsborough bridge during the Stratford sewer line project.

Traffic pylons will be removed from the Hillsborough bridge before any significant snow accumulation.

When the pylons are removed, there will be one lane to Stratford and two lanes to Charlottetown. Drivers are reminded to follow the painted lines on the bridge and not to cross over the centre yellow lines. Drivers should allow extra time for crossing the bridge throughout the weekend. Slow down in construction sites and follow the directions of traffic control personnel and signs.

After rush hour traffic Monday morning, crews will replace the pylons to finish the final week of this phase of construction. One centre lane will reverse daily based on traffic demands.

In the morning, there will be two lanes for traffic traveling from Stratford to Charlottetown,

with one lane for traffic from Charlottetown to Stratford. In the afternoon, there will be two lanes for traffic traveling from Charlottetown to Stratford, with one lane for traffic from Stratford to Charlottetown.

Work on this phase of the Stratford sewer line project on the Hillsborough bridge is expected to be complete by Dec. 11. Work will continue under the bridge through the winter, however this work will have minimal impact on traffic.
