The Buddhist Nuns (Great Wisdom Buddhist Institute) are holding an open house at their new home and first monastery building, South Lotus Hall, 806 Brudenell Rd., on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2:30-5:30 p.m. Refreshments, homemade cookies and other snacks will be served. Violinist Ed Wang will perform. Everyone is welcome. The event is done in appreciation for the kindness, acceptance and support the community has received from Islanders.
The 24th annual Stratford and Area Seniors’ Christmas Tea and Carol Sing will be held on Sunday, Dec, 8, 2-4 p.m., at the Assumption Parish Centre, 151 Stratford Rd., Stratford, put on by the Assumption Council of the Knights of Columbus in Stratford. All Stratford and area seniors are welcome to this free event. There will be local entertainment to lead everyone in singing Christmas Carols, as well as tea, sandwiches, sweets, door prizes and a visit by a special guest.
Central Queens United Church, Hunter River, will be the location of the Sunday School’s live nativity event on Sunday, Dec. 8. The presentation will take place on the church parking lot featuring the Sunday School students and live animals in a recreated Bethlehem setting on the night of Jesus’ birth. Shows are at 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Admission is a free-will offering. Visitors are invited into the church for light refreshments following the tour through Bethlehem.
Cards/Cribbage/Crokinole
Bid-auction card parties are held each Saturday at Hampshire Hall, 851 Route 225. Card play begins promptly at 7:30 p.m.

The Christian Women's Club will be meeting for breakfast on Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Delta Hotel in Charlottetown at 9:15 a.m. featuring a Christmas program, "Aprons of Love", with carols and music with Megan Pollard.
