ISLANDERS DESERVE BETTER INTERNET SERVICE

-

Like many Bell customers, my bill is going up $10 next month. My issue is the service I receive from Bell hi-speed and mobility is horrible for what I pay. My upload speed is 0.5 (Mbps) and my download is four. I was told by a representative I had the “ultra hi-speed package.” Seriously? In what world is that ultra anything? I needed to replace my cellphone two years ago. My bill doubled.

The taxpayers of P.E.I. have given Bell MILLIONS over the last five years and it doesn’t exactly warm my heart to read that Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan are getting millions spent on improvements to infrastructure. Good for them, but I’d like a “thank you” note.

Where I live in Cavendish, when I ‘m cleaning the gutters,

I can see two Bell towers. I am 7 kilometres from one tower and 2 km from the other. I get one out of five bars. Where is the CRTC on this?

From what I can see, the CRTC is the whipping post for the telecommunication companies, and are at their bidding and fold like a cheap shirt at their demands. Never mind what Canadian’s deserve!

Speaking of useless, Nova Scotia and P.E.I. sharing two area codes? The combined population is around 1.1 million people. No one thought about a coin toss? Someone gets 902 and the other get 782 and no 10 digit dialing! The population of Toronto is almost three million people and they have three area codes.

I say we all disconnect our telephones and cell phones and start writing letters again. Canada Post ... never mind.
