Holland College will host the 2021 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) women’s national volleyball championship.

The Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) institution will host the event in Charlottetown from March 10 to 13, 2021. All matches will take place at Holland’s Centre for Community Engagement (CCE).

“Holland College is no stranger to hosting national championships and they have great support from college administrators, students and the community which adds to the quality experience for the student-athletes,” said Fred Batley, CCAA women’s volleyball convenor.

“With the P.E.I. flavour, Atlantic hospitality and excellent competition, the event will be an overwhelming success.”

The Hurricanes are four-time ACAA silver-medallists (2015, 2016, 2017, 2019) and played host to the CCAA championship in 2016.

Charlottetown has a long history of hosting. In addition to hosting the 2016 CCAA women’s volleyball national championship, the Hurricanes have also recently hosted CCAA championships in men’s soccer (2018), men’s basketball (2017), golf (2016) and men’s volleyball (2015).

“In keeping with our commitment to athletics and building on the success of our varsity programs, I believe hosting this tournament will serve as a superlative opportunity in our progression in intercollegiate sports,” said Dr. Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald, president of Holland College.

“Building on the success of the previous national and regional championships we have hosted, we are certain that Holland College can offer a great experience for teams from across the country.”

The 2020 CCAA women’s volleyball national championship will be hosted by Cégep Garneau in Québec from March 11 to 14.
