Star Wars home has lots of space

- MYKE THOMAS POSTMEDIA NETWORK

After chasing the evil emperor across the galaxies, it’s right to assume the Jedis and their pals appreciate taking a breather. Rumours are there’s a home where they go to relax and rejuvenate in the gated Hidden Hills community in Los Angeles.

Hidden Hills is well-known as a secure celebrity-rich enclave for those wishing to hold the paparazzi at bay. Residents are used to rubbing elbows with well-known folks and wouldn’t look twice at the Star Wars crew, if the rumours are true.

The Craftsman-style home measures a hefty 18,183 sq. ft., inside three private acres and is perfect for earth dwellers and space travellers alike, with its indoor-outdoor swimming pool with waterfall, slide and grotto, and the spa and tennis court all nestled among mature landscaping. Hinting of visitors from far-away galaxies is a stargazing observatory with a powerful rotating telescope on the hill on the back of the property. The home’s front foyer offers glimpses of the two-storey ceiling in the formal living room and introduces visitors to all conceivable amenities for gracious living and entertaining. It is eco-friendly through the use of solar power with a propane generator backup and the grounds produce a large variety of fruit and organic herbs.

The chef’s kitchen with its two large islands has the capacity to prep for a crowd or an intimate family meal. In addition to formal and family rooms, there is a fitness centre, wine room, massage room, indoor heated pool, a 750-gallon aquarium, a professional recording studio and a six-car garage. Luke, Hans, Leia, Chewbacca, C3PO, R2D2 and the rest of the crew aren’t likely to be found in these rooms, however. Their universe is the 5,000-sq.-ft. basement. There, the Star Wars world comes to life with a standup bar, full-motion theatre with a 19-ft. screen and rooms filled with a multimillion dollar Star Wars prop and collectibles collection.
