New book focuses on family, descendants of Archibald and Ann Fergusson

-

The wait is over for a new book titled “The Ferguson’s of Hampton – From the Isle of Mull to Prince Edward Island and Beyond”.

This is a genealogy of collective Ferguson heritage and history, starting on the Isle of Mull, Argyle, Scotland in 1738 with Archibald and Ann Fergusson, following their descendants to Canada, Australia and the United States, through 2020.

Archibald and Ann had eight known children, one stayed on Mull and raised his family there, at least three and possibly four came to Canada circa 1810, two settling in the Hampton area of Prince Edward Island and one maybe two, settling further to the west.

One emigrated to Australia, one is presumed to have died in infancy, leaving one or possibly two who seem to be lost to time.

Don M. Ferguson started collecting stories and old photos over 30 years ago and when he retired, he finally found the time to sit down and put it all together.

The book consists of 539 pages of common history, stories, newspaper clippings, charts, copies of original documents, maps and over 700 photographs.

With a full colour front and back soft cover, the binding is spiral type which allows the book to be laid flat.

The official book launch was planned on P.E.I. for April or May of this year; however, with the current COVID-19 situation that will not be possible.

So, Ferguson is offering the opportunity to purchase books directly from him.

Anyone who is a Ferguson or a descendant of the Ferguson Clan, should be able to enjoy the book both now and for years to come and hand it down to future generations.

Anyone interested in purchasing a copy(s) contact the author by email at email at 2theferginator@gmail.com or by mail to Don M. Ferguson, 8727 Hwy 4, River Bourgeois, Cape Breton, N.S., Canada, B0E 2X0.
