Training

P.E.I. Farm Technician Apprentice­ship training block will be held at the Farm Centre, 420 University Ave., Charlottet­own. For the next intake, contact PEIAGSC at 902-892-1091. The program tuition is subsidized 100 per cent, if EI eligible. This registered apprentice­ship program combines classroom learning with on-farm experience, earning students a certificat­e of qualificat­ion in farm technician by the Apprentice­ship P.E.I. Experience­d drivers are wanted to obtain their airbrakes and class 3A license. The P.E.I. Agricultur­e

Sector Council will be facilitati­ng these two courses through JVI and Access. For more details on registrati­on requiremen­ts, contact Laurie or Robin at 902-892-1091. To sign up, contact the P.E.I. Agricultur­e Sector Council at 902-8921091 or info@peiagsc.ca. Forklift training for workers is being offered if a minimum of 10 people sign up. The date and location are to be announced. Fifty per cent of the cost of the training is covered through Canada Job Grants, and the remaining 50 per cent would be covered the employer. The theory portion is approximat­ely three hours and the practical portion is approximat­ely three hours. All participan­ts will receive a wallet card upon completing the course, and employers will receive a record of training for their records.
