Free virtual concert and fundraiser for CMHA-PEI

A Night in for Mental Health to be held Nov. 7, featuring several P.E.I. performers

The Canadian Mental Health Associatio­n, P.E.I. division (CMHA-P.E.I.), and D.P. Murphy Inc. have announced the details of a new fundraiser – a Night in for Mental Health.

This free, virtual concert celebratin­g local artists Catherine MacLellan, Tim Chaisson and Irish Mythen will be streamed live from CMHAPEI’s Facebook page on Saturday, Nov. 7, 8-9:30 p.m.

The event will be emceed by Gerard Murphy, and Julie Pellissier-Lush has been invited to offer greetings and to acknowledg­e the traditiona­l, ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people.

The event is free for anyone to attend and can be accessed through CMHAP.E.I.’s Facebook page, easily searched using the handle @ CMHAPEI-Division.

Donations will be accepted and can be made online at www.pei.cmha.ca or by calling 902-566-3034 where staff can process credit cards over the phone and/ or take pledges and issue invoices for payment by cheque at a later date.

“Fundraisin­g has been particular­ly challengin­g for the not-for-profit community since the onset of COVID19,” says Bianca McGregor, fund developmen­t manager for CMHA-PEI.

“We’re very grateful to D.P. Murphy Inc. and local sponsors, our volunteer committee and to Gerard, Julie, Catherine, Tim and Irish for their time and talents. The committee involved is excited to bring this amazing lineup of local artists to a large online audience, with the goal of raising awareness and funds for mental health programs and services for people living on Prince Edward Island.”

A Night in for Mental Health is organized by a volunteer committee consisting of chairwoman Laura Murphy, as well as Marg Connolly, Denise Cheverie and Michelle Murphy.

All money raised from this event stays in Prince Edward Island to support the work of the Prince Edward Island division of CMHA.
