IceDogs, Aces, Flames earn wins

The top two teams in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League posted victories on Friday night.

The league-leading Georgetown Tri County Insulfoam IceDogs defeated the North River Flames 6-3 while the second-place Tignish Perry’s Constructi­on Aces earned a 3-2 win in overtime against the Sherwood Metros.

The Flames bounced back to score a 4-1 win over the Southside MacDonald’s Excavation/EF MacPhee Lynx on Saturday

ICEDOGS 6 FLAMES 3

Isaac Drake, an affiliate player for the IceDogs, had a goal and two assists in the win while Ryan MacDonald had three assists at the Three Rivers Sportsplex in Georgetown.

Alex MacEachern scored twice for the home side while singles went to Sammy Docherty, Cole Mosher and Ty Peardon. Cam White had two assists while MacKenzie Good and Caden Kielly each contribute­d one.

Kyler Weeks scored two for North River while Owen Handregan chipped in one. Daniel Godfrey had a pair of helpers while singles went to Nick Buote, Ethan Handregan, Aaron McCloskey and Donovan Wyand.

Brandon Barrett made 26 saves for the win while JeanLuc Duguay was peppered with 47 shots in the loss.

Georgetown led 1-0 after the first period while the teams were tied 3-3 heading to the third.

The IceDogs improved to 15-3-0.

ACES 3 METROS 2

Ethan Rix scored the winner for the Aces with 38 seconds left in overtime at the Credit Union Arena in Tignish.

Nathan Grigg and Alex Arthur scored in regulation for the Aces. Oliver Smallman had two assists while Kane Arsenault, Jacob Hogan and Thomas Shea each added one.

Isaac McCabe and Robbie Munro scored for Sherwood with assists going to Bret Cheverie and Tanner Gallant.

Cole Gallant made 24 saves for the victory while Zack Hughes stopped 34 shots in the loss.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first period and 2-2 after the middle stanza.

The Aces are 13-5-0 while the Metros are 3-13-1.

FLAMES 4 LYNX 1

Jackson Roberts scored two goals as the Flames beat the Lynx at the APM Centre in Cornwall.

Godfrey had a goal and an assist in the win while McCloskey tallied the winner. Alex McCarron had two assists while singles went to Owen Handregan, Garrett MacDougall, Carter MacFadyen, Zac MacKay and Wyand.
