Prince Edward Island Acadian History Quiz begins Feb. 3

The Sister Antoinette DesRoches Historical Committee is launching its popular annual quiz on Feb. 3.

The quiz, which focuses on aspects of Prince Edward Island’s Acadian history and heritage, consists of 10 questions with a choice of answers.

The historical committee suggests that the quiz become an educationa­l activity in the classroom, with family members, at a dinner with friends or during a community meeting.

The quiz will be available on the Facebook page, Comité historique SoeurAntoi­nette-Desroches, and it will be published in French in La Voix acadienne on Feb. 3. Answers to the questions will be revealed one at a time on weekdays starting Feb. 15, Heritage Day, in a number of ways, including on the committee’s Facebook. All the answers and the names of the winners will be published in

La Voix acadienne on Feb. 24.

Prizes will be awarded in two categories. In the adult category, two winners will choose one of the following books: L’Acadie de l'Île-duPrince-Édouard: 300 ans d’histoire by Georges Arsenault and Linda Lowther that has just been published or Illustrate­d History of the Acadians of Prince Edward Island by Georges Arsenault. The latter book, published in 2019, is available in French and English.

In the school-age category, two $50 prizes will be awarded to two students.

To be eligible for the prizes, the answers must be sent to the Historical Committee no later than Feb. 12.

The content is open to everyone, whether an Islander or living off-Island.
