After many cherished visits with his family, Russell Edmund Perry passed away peacefully at the Maplewood Manor, Alberton, with his five loving children by his side, on Friday, January 29, 2021, after a 3 1/2 year battle with a rare form of dementia. Born at Alberton, PEI, on April 18, 1956, he was the son of the late Edmund J. and Viola M. (nee Gallant) Perry. Cherished father to: Melanie (Tyson) MacFarlane of Scotch Lake, NB, Mandy Perry (Neven MacCarthy), of Broderick Road, Monica (Mitchell) Morrissey of Sea Cow Pond, Maxine Perry (Garth Gallant) of St. Felix, and Mason Perry (Josie Shaw) of Nail Pond. Loving grandfathe­r to Hazen, Addison, Molly, Violet and Baby Boy Gallant. Dear brother to: Betty Bernard (George Chaisson), Maurice (Christine) Perry, Mary (Rick) Vail, Cathy (Al) Clohossey, Roy (late Mona) Perry, Jean (Dave) McKenna, Leona (Gary) Hayes, David (Irene) Perry, Johnny (Penny) Perry, Phyllis (Tommy) Bernard, and Joey Perry. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. He was predecease­d by his parents, and by brothers, Bobby and David Perry. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, Alberton, for a private family visitation for invited guests, on Sunday 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A private funeral will be held on Monday, February 1, 2021, from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, at 10:30 a.m., Rev. John Molina, Celebrant. Interment later in the Church cemetery. If so desired, memorials in Russell’s memory made be made to St. Simon and St. Jude Restoratio­n Fund would be gratefully appreciate­d. Due to COVID restrictio­ns, where so many family and friends are unable to attend the funeral mass, there will be a public lineup forming on the Palmer Road North and the Back Settlement Road, starting at 10:00 a.m. The funeral will be live streamed on the St. Simon and St. Jude Facebook page, starting at 10:30 a.m. www.rooneyfh.ca
