Wood, Duffy lead teams to IJHL wins

Chandler Wood had a hat trick Tuesday as the Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings picked up an 8-1 road win over the Hynes Paving Maniacs.

Barrington Duffy had a goal and four assists at the A&S Scrap Metal Metros used a five-goal second period to defeat the Maniacs 9-5 Wednesday in Island Junior Hockey League action.

The A&S Scrap Metal Metros used a five-goal second period to defeat the Hynes Paving Maniacs 9-5 Wednesday in Island Junior Hockey League action.

Barrington Duffy had a goal and four assists in the win on home ice at Cody Banks Arena. Hunter Bradley and Keegan Mitchell each had two goals while singles went to Cale Pierce, Noah Griffin, Josh Dow and Grant MacAdam.

Teddy Robins, Shaul Mitton and Pierce each had two assists while singles were credited to Jason Poley, Bradley, Nick Steele, Dylan MacDonald, Dawson Palmer and Dow.

Emmett Lyons scored twice for the Maniacs while Jarrett Victor, Jesse McGrath and Jake MacLaren rounded out the scoring. Jacob MacPhee, Lucas MacAulay, Drew Bowman, Jack King, Elliott Parker, Gage Taylor and MacLaren each chipped in an assist.

Noah Laybolt stopped 25 shots for the win while Alex Condon made 45 saves in the loss.

The Metros, who held 3-2 and 8-2 period leads, improved to 11-9-2 while the Maniacs are 1-19-0.

The Red Wings outshot the last-place Maniacs 74-28 and held 3-0 and 6-1 period leads.

Thomas Rennie had two goals and an assist while Stephen Smallwood and Chandler DesRoches each chipped in a goal and assist in the victory at the Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre in Montague. Austin Arsenault rounded out the scoring.

Ethan Beaulieu had three assists, Isaac Callaghan contribute­d a pair while singles were credited to Jack DesRoches, Austin Callaghan, Chase Gaudette, Isaac Knox and Bradley Campbell.

King from Jesse McGrath and Reid Peardon replied for the home side’s goal.

Carter Champion stopped 27 shots for the win while Nicolas Jamieson made 66 saves in the loss.

Western improved to 192-0.
