The seven beauty products celebrities use daily

It’s only natural that we do a little research into the lives and vanities of the A-list

- HALLIE GOULD Byrdie

Products we use on a daily basis can span from drugstore mascara to daytime foundation to our partner’s leftover body wash. Somehow, when we imagine a celebrity’s medicine cabinet, it doesn’t quite seem as run-of-the-mill. Reruns of Cribs and off-the-cuff Snapchats prove that notion. Kylie Jenner has her own glam room — complete with mirrors on every wall and stacks of Hermes boxes just for decoration. Eva Mendes gets ready for the day next to Ryan Gosling, for goodness’ sake.

As such, it’s only natural that we do a little research into the lives and vanities of the A-list. We took a deep dive into some our favourite interviews and found the beauty products celebrities are consistently buying. Whether it’s Kate Bosworth’s undereye treatment secret or Alexa Chung’s favourite highlighter, you’d better believe we just added these seven products to our to-buy list.

Keep reading for every skin-, hair- and life-enhancing offering you need right now, according to Hollywood’s finest.

Hydrating Eye Mask

Who: Kate Bosworth What: Joanna Vargas Bright Eye Hydrating Mask ($65)

Why: “I use Joanna Vargas’s gel eye patch ($65) and then I put the eye mask over it ($65) — so it locks the gel in, Bosworth told us exclusively. “And if you really want to get wild, you can put the whole face mask over all of that, so it’s like a three-layer. They’re amazing — they’re the best face masks I’ve ever tried.”

Fine Mist Moisturizer

Who: Kylie Jenner What: Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist ($48)

Why: Jenner recently took us through her entire $1,200 Sephora haul on Snapchat, and every step of the way our eyes continued to widen with awe and glee. Jenner said of the Japanese skin product, “I see Ariel (Tejada) use this Dewy Skin Mist on my face every time he does my makeup, so I decided to get it!”

Liquid Highlighter

Who: Alexa Chung What: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Rose Gold ($41)

Why: Admittedly, Chung isn’t a total makeup obsessee, but she does have talented and famous friends to point her in the right direction. She picked up some must-haves at Sephora at the suggestion of celebrity makeup artist and Lancôme creative director Lisa Eldridge. “I got that Becca shimmering rose thing,” she told us in a recent interview (she also wore it during the shoot).

Volumizing Brow Gel

Who: Whitney Port What: Benefit Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel ($24)

Why: “Basically, for my brows, I try not to touch them as much as humanly possible,” Port explained in an exclusive interview. (Our editors agree.) “I’ve been going to someone on the West Side. Her salon is called Brows by Shaila, and she only tweezes them. I don’t wax them, because I feel like waxing takes off more hair than I want to take off. It takes a lot of self-control, but basically I just brush them up first with just a regular brow brush, and then honestly, during the day, I don’t really like to have the penciled-in look, so I’ve been using Benefit’s Gimme Brow, and that really brushes them up and gives them that feathered look while giving them a little bit of a tint, so it fixes any bald spots.”

Cream Blush

Who: Eva Mendes What: Circa Ultrasuede Cream Blush in Portofino ($13)

Why: When we sat down with Eva Mendes to discuss her new drugstore brand, Circa, we were dying to know which product from the line was her go-to. She answered, “Definitely the cream blush — our cream blushes are so luxurious. Portofino is my favourite colour. It blends really nicely, and it layers really beautifully too. I use that on my lips at times. It’s one of my must-have products.”

Texture Spray

Who: Khloe Kardashian What: Ouai Wave Spray ($26) Why: Recently, Jen Atkin, the Kardashians’ trusted hairstylist and now our favourite accessory designer, showed off different looks on her Snapchat. She snapped Khloe in five different looks and gave us a peek into the products she used to achieve them. Since then, I’ve been following along as Atkin posts her most recent tutorials, and almost always, she outfits Khloe in her cult-favourite product for added texture and bounce.

Moisturizing Spray

Who: Olivia Wilde What: Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence ($68)

Why: Over the phone, we had the chance to chat with Olivia Wilde about her workout regimen, her favourite cheat foods, and, of course, the last beauty product she bought for herself.

She needed a minute to think about that one: “Oof, OK. Hmm,” she answered when we posed the question. Quickly, she remembered her most recent fave and answered, “The last product that I bought was Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence ($68),” as it boosts your skin’s natural hydration with hyaluronic acid.
