OPP on the hunt for thief who made off with 400-pound totem pole

WINDHAM — Ontario Provincial Police in Norfolk County are looking for a totem pole thief.

Police say in a news release the six-foot-tall, 400-pound totem was taken Tuesday from a home on Scott Street, Windham, Norfolk County.

“Through the course of investigat­ion, it was determined that between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m., on Tuesday, July 12, unknowns attended the address and removed a totem pole that was located on the property,” the police release said.

The totem pole is described as about six feet tall, two to three feet in diameter with two faces on it, weighing about 400 pounds.

The top face has a crow as a head dress, painted with a black and yellow beak. The lower face has a feather that is painted red. The theft is valued at about $800. The investigat­ion is continuing and police are asking anyone with informatio­n about the theft to contact the Norfolk County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
