Woman, 77, injured as camper trailer rolls over her

-

A 77-year-old woman is in hospital with serious injuries after a camper trailer rolled down a driveway at a west Mountain residence and pulled her under.

The trailer started moving down the driveway just as the woman’s friend went into the garage for a wheel chock.

The woman was helping her friend with his pickup truck and trailer on Brenlyn Court when he went into the garage for a chock to wedge under its right wheel just before 2 p.m. Monday.

“The female ran after the truck in an attempt to get into the cab, but was pulled under the trailer and run over by the trailer’s tandem wheels,” police said in a news release Tuesday.

The trailer kept rolling and crashed into a parked car.

Paramedics took the woman to hospital.

Police said Tuesday she remains in “stable condition with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.”

Police have ruled out speed, alcohol and foul play as factors but say “the matter is not concluded.”

The collision reconstruction unit continues to investigate the mishap.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Const. Matt Hewko 905-546-4755.
