Ru­ral Hamil­ton house fire sends man to hos­pi­tal

A man was trans­ported to hos­pi­tal with­out vi­tal signs from a home fire in ru­ral Up­per Stoney Creek.

“We have a fully in­volved fire that’s gone through the roof,” said Hamil­ton Fire spokesper­son Dave Christo­pher at about 10:20 p.m. Tues­day.

Fire crews were called to the sin­gle storey, back­split home at 206 5th Rd. E., near Tap­ley­town, at about 9:45 p.m. Nineteen units were on scene of the ru­ral fire, with­out im­me­di­ate ac­cess to fire hy­drants, he said.

“Crews will be here for a while,” as they con­tinue to work on the fire, Christo­pher said.

Hamil­ton EMS con­firmed at 10:30 p.m. that a man with­out vi­tal signs was on his way to a Hamil­ton hos­pi­tal.

The cause of fire was un­known.
