Fire destroys two buildings and a vehicle

West Lincoln fire department sends just about every vehicle to blaze

- GRIMSBY LINCOLN NEWS WEST LINCOLN —

Two buildings and a vehicle were destroyed by fire on an abandoned property near the hamlet of Abingdon.

West Lincoln firefighte­rs were called to the rural property at 9003 Concession Rd. 5 at about 5 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a call about the vehicle fire. The fire, which was put under control after two hours, spread from the vehicle to a barn and another building. The property is west of Abingdon Road.

The department says just about every available vehicle from the township fire department was called to the scene, along with mutual aid tanker trucks from Haldimand and Grimsby. Smoke could be seen as far away in Smithville.

Grimsby Pump 1 was stationed at West Lincoln Station 1 for the duration of the blaze in case of another fire call.
