Traffic stop story not worthy of front page

RE: Black Hamiltonian tells of traffic stop stress (July 13)

There’s been talk lately how the press is doing it’s best to incite more anger and violence between the races, and The Hamilton Spectator proved that with this story.

Why did you feel it necessary to provoke more dissension by printing a front-page story about a black man who was stopped by the police in Ancaster 10 years ago and then in New Brunswick this year, supposedly because of his skin colour? Of course, it could have been for many reasons but you don’t know that.

Have enough innocent police officers not been killed already? Have enough innocent black people not been killed already? Life isn’t totally fair for anyone, and we all have reasons to complain about our own personal injustices in this world. But, for heavens sake, two dubious traffic stops in 10 years is not something that merits front page coverage.
