Live on Locke sup­ports mu­si­cal pro­gram for kids

Cana­dian singer-song­writer sib­lings Matthew and Jill Bar­ber and in­die-rock band Win­ter­sleep are among the mu­si­cal acts join­ing the Live on Locke con­cert se­ries this au­tumn along­side Ba­hamas and Lee Har­vey Os­mond.

Toronto-based folk-style singer­song­writer Ba­hamas (a.k.a. Afie Jur­va­nen), whose mu­sic has re­ceived crit­i­cal ac­claim, will kick off the four-part se­ries on Sept. 23.

The Bar­bers will present songs from “The Fam­ily Al­bum,” their joint folk record re­leased ear­lier this year, on Oct. 7.

Lee Har­vey Os­mond, with front­man (and Hamil­ton res­i­dent) Tom Wil­son, will play the Oct. 21 show.

Juno-award win­ning Win­ter­sleep, who re­leased their lat­est al­bum “The Great De­tach­ment” in spring this year, will close the se­ries on Dec. 2.

The con­cert se­ries, which was launched in 2012, rou­tinely sells out. It has wel­comed the likes of Wanda Jack­son, Joel Plas­kett, Molly John­son and Ron Sex­smith.

Pro­ceeds from the con­certs, which are held at Mel­rose United Church, 86 Home­wood Ave., sup­port An In­stru­ment for Ev­ery Child. Se­ries passes ($150) are avail­able on­line or at Picks and Sticks, 140 Locke St. S., or Epic Books, 226 Locke St. S.
