Live on Locke supports musical program for kids
Canadian singer-songwriter siblings Matthew and Jill Barber and indie-rock band Wintersleep are among the musical acts joining the Live on Locke concert series this autumn alongside Bahamas and Lee Harvey Osmond.
Toronto-based folk-style singersongwriter Bahamas (a.k.a. Afie Jurvanen), whose music has received critical acclaim, will kick off the four-part series on Sept. 23.
The Barbers will present songs from “The Family Album,” their joint folk record released earlier this year, on Oct. 7.
Lee Harvey Osmond, with frontman (and Hamilton resident) Tom Wilson, will play the Oct. 21 show.
Juno-award winning Wintersleep, who released their latest album “The Great Detachment” in spring this year, will close the series on Dec. 2.
The concert series, which was launched in 2012, routinely sells out. It has welcomed the likes of Wanda Jackson, Joel Plaskett, Molly Johnson and Ron Sexsmith.
Proceeds from the concerts, which are held at Melrose United Church, 86 Homewood Ave., support An Instrument for Every Child. Series passes ($150) are available online or at Picks and Sticks, 140 Locke St. S., or Epic Books, 226 Locke St. S. For the first time this year, a limited number of individual concert tickets ($40) will be available for sale. For full details and to purchase online, visit liveonlocke.com.
