New zebra-stripe crossings being painted on east Mountain

-

The city will be using the summer months to install zebra-stripe markings at school crossings at a number of intersections on the east Mountain.

At the urging of Ward 6 Coun. Tom Jackson, the high-visibility markings will be installed at Upper Ottawa and Queensdale, Upper Ottawa and 10th Avenue, and Upper Gage and Brucedale.

The intersection of Upper Gage and Brucedale is also getting pedestrian priority crossing lights this summer, Jackson said. Crossing lights will be installed on Fennell at East 37th in 2017.

Jackson said the zebra-stripe markings will also be installed at Upper Ottawa and Brucedale, Upper Gage and Royal Vista, and Upper Ottawa and Larch.

In the future, the markings will be installed at nine other intersections in the ward, including Upper Gage and Ninth Avenue, Upper Ottawa and Limeridge, Upper Gage at the Lincoln Alexander Parkway offramp, Upper Gage at Loconder, Upper Gage at Stone Church, Upper Ottawa at Stone Church, and Upper Ottawa at Silverton.
