Another perspective on a white guy
RE: Greatness lies forward, not back (Editorial, July 22)
Paul Berton is missing the point why an egotistical billionaire white guy is popular at this point in history.
The elites have brought us to a situation where terror attacks are the new normal, while the press looks for illogical causes.
It is because the press and others are dominated by leftist views that cover up the truth, are contemptuous of those who disagree with the party line, dismissive of misogyny and xenophobia when it comes from the third world but hypersensitive to every small insult and imperfection from those who uphold Judeo-Christian values — as if the critics now want to destroy civilization.
Berton wisely acknowledges the progress Western society has brought to all people, yet is eager to destroy that progress in the 21st century and replace it with the barbarity of the 7th century without any challenges.
It is not that new Canadians or Americans are not accepted, it is that many today bring values antithetical to the underpinnings of the great society which have given us the opportunity to succeed and to have a say in our own democracy.
