Are you thinking of going back to school but don’t know where to start? Does employment seem out of reach? Mohawk College might be the answer you’re looking for. We offer tuitionfre­e programmin­g and services designed to fit your learning needs and put you on track for success. Here’s a snap-shot of what we can do for you:

City School by Mohawk College is tuitionfre­e programmin­g delivered at the Eva Rothwell Centre and the Hamilton Public Library – Central branch. We are bringing the college to you! We are offering three FREE College credit courses in the fall (Digital Photojourn­alism, Family Dynamics, and College 101). It’s a great way to try college out, see if it’s the right fit for you, and receive a Mohawk College recognized credit for your work. We will also be offering a Job Ready Toolkit starting in Fall 2016 to help you prepare for employment.

City School is also partnering with Mission Services and the Eva Rothwell Centre to bring Hamilton’s youth after-school programmin­g. Combining academic upskilling with fun afterschoo­l activities (robotics building, athletics programmin­g at Mohawk), youth will have the opportunit­y to engage in new and innovative programmin­g. These programs are supported by the Hamilton Community Foundation.

Academic Upgrading at Mohawk College allows adult learners to meet college entry requiremen­ts without going back to high school. We can also help prepare you to write your GED or help you improve your essential skills for employment. When you enroll in this program you’ll receive a personal assessment that will be used to develop an individual­ized learning plan based on your unique needs.

College Ready Boot Camp – Math is a 3 week course designed to refresh and boost the skills you’ll need to succeed in college.You will focus on upgrading math skills, study skills, understand blended learning (a mix of online and face-to-face learning), and explore the services Mohawk has to offer (e.g., financial aid/ bursaries, learning support centre, math learning centre, etc.). Community Employment Services offers cost-free services to help you become employment ready. They can help you with your job search, resume writing and cover letters, interview techniques, apprentice­ship training supports, and second career funding.
