Multiple Skyway crashes snarl traffic

Three separate collisions on the Burlington Skyway closed two lanes of Toronto-bound traffic Sunday afternoon and sent at least one person to hospital with serious injuries.

Ontario Provincial Police said the collisions started around 1 p.m. on the Skyway and involved at least 10 different vehicles, including two motorcycles.

One motorcyclist was taken to hospital with serious but non-lifethreatening injuries, said Sgt. Kerry Schmidt. Other hospitalizations were likely, he said, but most injuries appeared to be minor.

It was not immediately clear what prompted the Skyway pile up.

The collision was cleared shortly after 2 p.m.
