Time for photo radar on Burlington Street

-

RE: Road safety

I’ve never liked the idea of photo radar but I’m getting sick and tired of the speed people are driving on the upper decks of Burlington Street. I have been using Burlington Street upper decks every morning between 4:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. and every afternoon between 3 and 4:30 p.m. for 10 years and not once have I ever seen the police with radar. On the weekends, yes but never during the week. Most people I’ve talked to have said the same thing — “it’s a safety issue”. It’s scary enough to drive on the upper decks let alone trying to jump out of your car to give someone a ticket, and I don’t blame them.

So that only leaves two options ... either shut the upper decks down to slow traffic down or install photo radar. Once you get a half dozen or so tickets in the mail, you will either learn to slow down or have no license, car insurance or money. Pat Adams, Hamilton
