Years ago I had a talk with my Dutch/German mother whose family was forced into a move to Holland as her dad had no job and would have been sent to a concentration camp if they stayed. I asked her how could you (the German people) let Hitler come to power? She said we were hungry and had no work — he gave the people both. Her brothers, my uncles fought with the underground.

Those who forget history are destined to repeat it. Let’s be vigilant. The actions against the mosques have an eerie similarity to Kristallnacht. Let’s keep that class of “thugs” at bay. Karen Filice, Stoney Creek
