Police searching for driver who allegedly fled Wellington crash
Hamilton police continue to search for a rental truck driver who allegedly fled the scene of a five-vehicle crash.
It was “fortunate” no one was hurt in the pileup Monday shortly after 3 p.m on Wellington Street at Cannon Street East, said spokesperson Const. Steve Welton.
It’s not clear why the U-Haul truck crashed into the other vehicles, he said, adding that the driver fled. The driver is expected to face charges of careless driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident, Welton said.
He’s described as a white man with dark hair. He’s between fivefoot-nine and five-foot-11. He was seen carrying a black bag.
