Man tried to bite of­fi­cers, take of­fi­cer’s gun, po­lice say

A man is fac­ing charges af­ter al­legedly try­ing to take a po­lice of­fi­cer’s firearm and bite other of­fi­cers. Hamil­ton po­lice say an of­fi­cer was sent to help paramedics with a man who had been found ly­ing in the street on Satur­day. They say that when the of­fi­cer ap­proached the man to as­sist him to the am­bu­lance, the man al­legedly told the of­fi­cer he was go­ing to take his gun. In­ves­ti­ga­tors say the man was ar­rested af­ter a brief strug­gle that en­sued when the man al­legedly be­gan reach­ing for the of­fi­cer’s firearm. They say the man at­tempted to bite and as­sault of­fi­cers fol­low­ing his ar­rest. A 31year-old Hamil­ton man is charged with dis­arm­ing a peace of­fi­cer and as­sault­ing a peace of­fi­cer.
