McCarville re­mains in con­tention at Scot­ties

ST. CATHARINES, ONT. — North­ern On­tario’s Krista McCarville beat the de­fend­ing champs at the Cana­dian women’s curl­ing cham­pi­onship Thurs­day to stay in the hunt for play­offs. McCarville downed the Chelsey Carey team from Cal­gary, 8-4, as North­ern On­tario im­proved to 6-3 with two games re­main­ing in the round robin. Carey, 7-2, was still in play­off ter­ri­tory. The top four teams af­ter the fi­nal draw Fri­day morn­ing get into the Page play­off. On­tario’s Rachel Ho­man (10-0) and Man­i­toba’s Michelle En­glot (9-1) had al­ready locked down two spots with Ho­man as­sured of a top-two fin­ish. Que­bec’s Eve Belisle was still in con­tention at 6-4.
