Better driving can do a lot

-

RE: Highway improvements

I don’t think barriers would curb traffic accidents on the Red Hill if put on the shoulder. Deflecting a car back into the road doesn’t seem like a great idea. If anything, a barrier should be run along the bottom of the ditch so the car is stopped out of the way of any traffic. The problem with the Red Hill is the constant “S” bending. Any lapse in concentration will end with the car in the ditch. We need to focus on nabbing speeders and people preoccupied with things other than driving before putting in barriers. Speed cameras would be more cost effective. The vast majority of car crashes are due to human error. We must all drive more safely. If we all drove at the speed limit, with our eyes on the road, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Adrian Pezzelato, Ancaster
