Police are being tight-lipped with details about their investigation into two recent shootings on Green Mountain Road in Stoney Creek.

Officers were called for reports of shots being fired at a home on the rural road around 11 p.m. on Saturday after responding to a “similar shooting” early in the morning on April 17.

“At this time, neither shooting appears to be random,” police said in a media release Monday.

One neighbour, who asked not to be identified because he did not want to be linked to the case, said the shootings sparked concern as the area is generally pretty quiet.

He said neighbours have been told by police that the house shot at was not the intended target.

In 2011, police raided a property on Green Mountain Road, seizing more than 1,600 pot plants and laying drug-related charges.

Officers found the marijuana plants growing in a 33,000-squarefoot agricultural building at the back of a house on the street, police said at the time.

An attached 4,000-square-footbuilding was apparently used to process and package the marijuana — valued at about $1.5 million — and cash was uncovered at a home next door.

Anyone with information about the recent shooting incident is asked to contact Det. Const. Trevor Bland at 905-546-2917 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or crimestoppershamilton.com.
