Celebrating 30 Years of Hearing Health Service to the Hamilton Community

-

Hearing Instrument Specialist Jill Nelson and Hearing Instrument Dispenser Evelyn Lawrence are celebrating 30 years of service to the Hamilton community and are very excited to reach this significant milestone. For the past three decades, these two experienced clinicians have helped Hamilton residents improve their quality of life. At ListenUP! Canada, located at 25 Charlton Ave. E. in the medical clinic across from St. Joseph’s Healthcare, this power duo provide hearing solutions designed to suit individual needs for the hearing impaired public.

“I think what has given us an edge and staying power in this field is that we have managed to instill trust and are respectful of the specific and unique challenges of our clients. Our collective years in the industry has enabled us to extend all facets of our experience to those with hearing needs,” says Nelson.

“It’s been a really good fit, both in terms of working together and balancing our work with our family lives,” says Lawrence. “Over the years, our families grew and many customers got to know our four children who have worked summers at the office. We are fortunate and proud to be in a position where we can provide a professional, warm and comfortable atmosphere for our clientele and for ourselves.”

Nelson and Lawrence perform comprehensive hearing assessments at no charge for people who have often felt isolated from family and friends or for those who are frustrated by social events and struggle to participate in conversations. If hearing loss is detected, individuals are presented with recommendations based upon their specific needs. If it is suspected that hearing loss is due to a medical problem, the client is referred back to his or her family physician. However, a great number of hearing losses are a result of noise-induced hearing loss or are simply the result of what is referred to as presbycusis – hearing loss due to aging.

“We recommend that people 60 years of age and older have their hearing tested regularly and stress that patients presently wearing hearing devices be reevaluated every two years,” says Nelson. “We encourage people to book appointments over the phone or via email, and we are usually able to accommodate patients at short notice – whether it be a comprehensive hearing assessment, prescriptions, or service and counselling.”

At ListenUP! Canada, Nelson and Lawrence are proud to offer a current generation of hearing aids that solve the most common challenge for hearing aid wearers: hearing well in noisy environments. With the biggest advancement in hearing aid technology in 30 years, these new hearing aids collect and digitally process natural, 360 degree sound thousands of times per second! Additional services these two experts provide include custom fittings, fabrication of ear-molds and adjustments and repairs, even on devices purchased elsewhere. Clients who qualify for funding from Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), Veterans Affairs (DVA), or other forms of financial assistance are also welcome.

In celebration of their 30-year anniversary, Nelson and Lawrence invite you to book a free hearing assessment with them and take advantage of our special anniversary promotion on hearing aids. Please call 1-888-893-6489 to book your appointment, and wish them a Happy Anniversary!
