In an increasingly digital age, one may be surprised to learn that Cardinal Newman’s school newspaper, Cardinal Newsman, was only just founded this school year.

As the founder and editor-in-chief, I see the newspaper as a valuable tool to give details about school events. Although the school website can provide more up-to-date information than our monthly newspaper, it is still important.

Our newspaper is for current students and teachers as well as alumni and it covers stories that would otherwise go unnoticed.

Although Cardinal Newman’s sports teams are often recognized for their endeavours both locally and provincially, the general public may not realize that the school promotes excellence at all levels.

Newman is home to a talented dance squad, a concert band and jazz ensemble, the CN Explosion Glee Club, the CN Players acting group, and the “Slamurai,” our very own slam poetry team who is the defending city champion at the “Louder than a Bomb” slam poetry competition. For the “Newspaper Crew,” it is our goal to ensure that all aspects of the school are covered thoroughly. By opening everyone’s eyes to all that Cardinal Newman has to offer, we promote the school and ensure that students and staff receive proper recognition for their dedication and hard work.
