Girl, 11, of­fered ride by stranger in Cale­do­nia, OPP ask for help

CALE­DO­NIA — Haldimand County OPP are try­ing to track down a stranger who re­port­edly of­fered an 11-year-old girl a ride in a mini­van.

The girl was walk­ing on Wig­ton Street when a grey mini­van stopped in front of her be­tween 3:05 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. Fri­day, po­lice said.

A man got out and asked if she wanted a ride. When she said no, the man got back into the mini­van, drove south on Wig­ton and west on Hadding­ton Street.

The driver, about 30 years old, is a clean­shaven, tanned white man who’s about 5foot-11. He wore glasses on top of his head and has short, dark hair. He was wear­ing black pants and a blue tank stop.

In Nor­folk County, OPP are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a si­m­il­iar in­ci­dent in­volv­ing three 13-year-old girls.

In that case, po­lice say two men ap­proached the girls and of­fered them a ride in their mini­van in Port Rowan around 4 p.m. on Satur­day.
