Girl, 11, offered ride by stranger in Caledonia, OPP ask for help

CALEDONIA — Haldimand County OPP are trying to track down a stranger who reportedly offered an 11-year-old girl a ride in a minivan.

The girl was walking on Wigton Street when a grey minivan stopped in front of her between 3:05 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. Friday, police said.

A man got out and asked if she wanted a ride. When she said no, the man got back into the minivan, drove south on Wigton and west on Haddington Street.

The driver, about 30 years old, is a cleanshave­n, tanned white man who’s about 5foot-11. He wore glasses on top of his head and has short, dark hair. He was wearing black pants and a blue tank stop.

In Norfolk County, OPP are investigat­ing a similiar incident involving three 13-year-old girls.

In that case, police say two men approached the girls and offered them a ride in their minivan in Port Rowan around 4 p.m. on Saturday.
