Fire causes $550K damage at patio furniture business
Damage has been set at $550,000 in a fire Saturday in a workshop building at a Millgrove patio furniture business known for its giant dinosaur statues out front. Hamilton Fire Department spokesperson Claudio Mostacci said the investigation has been handed over to the
Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office because of the high damage cost. Firefighters were still on the scene Sunday. The building at Flamborough Patio Furniture that caught fire, and eventually collapsed, housed wood and woodworking machines that were used to make gazebos, said Mostacci. Fire crews were able to protect the two structures at the side of the building — a residential home and a commercial property. Damage to the house was confined to the rear of the building, with less damage to the commercial property, Mostacci said.
