Motorcycle abandoned after crash downtown, suspect arrested

Hamilton police say they they’ve found the suspected driver of a motorcycle that was abandoned after a crash downtown Tuesday.

Police were called to the scene at Victoria Avenue North and King William Street shortly before 6 a.m. after multiple calls about the abandoned motorcycle.

On scene, they found the damaged motorcycle, which police suspect was stolen, and parts of a broken helmet.

Victoria Avenue North was closed between King William Street and East Avenue.

During the investigat­ion, police learned the driver may have left the scene in a taxi and soon located a taxi in the area of Grand Boulevard in Dundas.

A man was arrested in relation to outstandin­g warrants for unrelated offences. He is a prohibited driver. He was transporte­d to hospital for treatment for minor injuries, police said.

The investigat­ion is ongoing.
