Mo­tor­cy­cle aban­doned af­ter crash down­town, sus­pect ar­rested

Hamil­ton po­lice say they they’ve found the sus­pected driver of a mo­tor­cy­cle that was aban­doned af­ter a crash down­town Tues­day.

Po­lice were called to the scene at Vic­to­ria Av­enue North and King Wil­liam Street shortly be­fore 6 a.m. af­ter mul­ti­ple calls about the aban­doned mo­tor­cy­cle.

On scene, they found the dam­aged mo­tor­cy­cle, which po­lice sus­pect was stolen, and parts of a bro­ken hel­met.

Vic­to­ria Av­enue North was closed be­tween King Wil­liam Street and East Av­enue.

Dur­ing the in­ves­ti­ga­tion, po­lice learned the driver may have left the scene in a taxi and soon lo­cated a taxi in the area of Grand Boule­vard in Dun­das.

A man was ar­rested in re­la­tion to out­stand­ing war­rants for un­re­lated of­fences. He is a pro­hib­ited driver. He was trans­ported to hos­pi­tal for treat­ment for mi­nor in­juries, po­lice said.

The in­ves­ti­ga­tion is on­go­ing.
