HAMILTON OLDTIMERS’ BASEBALL ORGANIZATION Tom Manuel banged out six hits, Bert Schenk had five and Chris Fraser drove in six runs as the Tigers beat the Cardinals 15-3 in one of two season openers in the HOBO’s 55-plus division. Dave Cummins had four hits while Harvey Sahker collected four RBIs for the Tigers. Keith Howard and Todd Breedon each had two hits for the Cardinals. In the other season opener, Tom McGratton, Frank Simioni and Ted Pritchard each had three hits to lead the A’s to a 14-4 win over the Dodgers. John McGrath and Clyde Goldsmith each had two hits for the Dodgers.

HAMILTON SMASH Hamilton Smash 15U Teal team won a gold medal in the 15U Division 1 Tier 3 in the National Volleyball Championships this past weekend in Waterloo. The team only dropped one game in the entire tournament. They won a thriller in the gold medal game over Aigles from Quebec with the scores of 26-24, 27-25. Team members are: Holly Carenza, Megan Logan, Lauren Friesen, Serena McKay, Lexie Zicari, Juliet Saunders, Molly Anderson, Kate Green, Aoife Hamilton, Kallan Holley, Olivia Krishnan, and coaches Patti Meggitt and Jessica Meggitt.

SPORTHAMILTON Multi-sport Indoor Year-Round Training and Competition Sport Facility in Hamilton survey. Step 1 in getting this facility built in Hamilton is to confirm that the Hamilton sport community supports this idea and there is a need for one. Your input is needed for this to happen. Please complete the feasibility study survey (it will take five to 10 minutes of your time) found at sporthamilton.com and click on “feasibility study” or the photo of Ron Foxcroft (honorary chairperson of this project). Once the need is established the facility details, size, location, etc. will be determined but first, all parents, coaches, athletes, health related and sport related entrepreneurs are asked for their valuable input.
