LEAGUE OF THE WEEK: HAMILTON OLDE SPORTS SLO-PITCH ASSOCIATIO­N

Mayor Fred Eisenberge­r presents certificat­es to original league member Don Strong, while Peggy Armstrong (widow of first league president Barry Armstrong) looks on, as Hamilton Olde Sports Slo-Pitch Associatio­n celebrated its 30th anniversar­y May 16 at Turner Park. Original league members John Boag, Jack Herdman, Bob Grieg, Steve Hasick, Charlie Doucette and George Robinson were also in attendance. The league is comprised of 224 players (women over 45 and men over 55) on 14 teams. Games are played on Tuesday and Thursday over the summer. The regular season consists of 26 games, followed by a six-game round robin in two pods and a championsh­ip day in September.
