LEAGUE OF THE WEEK: HAMIL­TON OLDE SPORTS SLO-PITCH AS­SO­CI­A­TION

Mayor Fred Eisen­berger presents cer­tifi­cates to orig­i­nal league mem­ber Don Strong, while Peggy Arm­strong (widow of first league pres­i­dent Barry Arm­strong) looks on, as Hamil­ton Olde Sports Slo-Pitch As­so­ci­a­tion cel­e­brated its 30th an­niver­sary May 16 at Turner Park. Orig­i­nal league mem­bers John Boag, Jack Herd­man, Bob Grieg, Steve Ha­sick, Char­lie Doucette and Ge­orge Robin­son were also in at­ten­dance. The league is com­prised of 224 play­ers (women over 45 and men over 55) on 14 teams. Games are played on Tues­day and Thurs­day over the sum­mer. The reg­u­lar sea­son con­sists of 26 games, fol­lowed by a six-game round robin in two pods and a cham­pi­onship day in Septem­ber.
