Airport looking for growth feedback at Oakville session
OAKVILLE — Toronto Pearson International Airport will hold an Oakville session to talk about growth and the impact of its operations.
The airport is growing as an employment zone and a transit centre. Global demand for air travel is behind the airport’s growth.
The series of initiatives this summer are meant to help ensure that the airport’s long-range plan addresses the concerns and priorities of residents.
Residents can participate by attending one of a series of public workshops in the Greater Toronto Area and by completing a survey on noise and airport growth.
West of the airport, the workshop will be held Thursday, July 6, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., in the Bronte Room of the Harbour Banquet and Conference Centre, 2340 Ontario St., Oakville.
Each two-hour workshop will include a 30-minute presentation about the history of Toronto Pearson, the growth of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area, and the airport’s vision for the future.
Participants will then be invited to join a series of facilitated smallgroup discussions with other local residents and members of the new Residents’ Reference Panel and suggest ways to:
Provide new transit options for the airport and region;
Manage and mitigate noise from aircraft;
Engage and inform residents about airport operations;
Strengthen the airport’s commitment to the environment.
A summary of each meeting will be posted to the airport’s website and shared with members of our Residents’ Reference Panel, the Community Environment and Noise Advisory Committee and the GTAA board. The airport is encouraging people to register. For more information, visit torontopearson.com/conversations.
