Officer injured while apprehending man in distress
A 40-year-old man was tasered by Hamilton police after resisting being apprehended under the Mental Health Act.
A police officer suffered minor injuries during the incident at an apartment building on Mohawk Road East near Upper Wellington Street around 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Police had been called to the apartment building about a person in crisis but the man resisted going with an officer. The officer called for backup, leading to a significant police presence in the area.
The injured officer was taken to hospital for observation.
Police are still investigating whether criminal charges are warranted.
