Missing woman’s body found

OAKVILLE — A 27-year-old Oakville woman, who went missing on Friday, July 7, has been confirmed dead by Niagara police.

Last Friday, Halton Regional Police issued an alert to the media for Safa Mushtaq, who’d been reported missing by her family in Oakville and who had been last seen on foot in the area of Dundas Street and Neyagawa Boulevard at about 5 p.m.

On Tuesday, July 11, Halton police issued a media release stating Mushtaq had been “located” in Niagara Falls.

Halton police referred further inquiries to Niagara police.

On Wednesday, Stephanie Sabourin, media relations specialist, Niagara Regional Police, confirmed to the Oakville Beaver, the missing woman’s body had been located in the city of Niagara Falls Monday, July 10.

No more details will be provided and foul play is not suspected, according to Sabourin.
