HAMILTON SMASH VOLLEYBALL CLUB The club is seeking assistant and potential head coaches for the 2017-2018 indoor season. Coaches are expected to attend practices twice a week, occasional weekend tournaments and be willing to develop their coaching skills through ongoing educational opportunities. A passion for working with youth, organizational abilities and leadership are a must. Previous experience playing volleyball and coaching youth sports is a definite plus. HAMILTON SMASH VOLLEYBALL CLUB Congratulation to Brianne Whalen and Alyssa Lalli on their gold in 13U Premier at the Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) Beach Tour this past weekend. The pair was undefeated throughout the tournament winning all in straight 2-0 sets. This is their fifth tournament gold and they are ranked No. 1 in Ontario. Both Brianne and Alyssa plays for Legacy Beach and Hamilton Smash Volleyball Club. Both coached by Adam Podstawka and Marcus Wu.

HAMILTON OLDTIMERS’ BASEBALL ORGANIZATION Dan Creechan banged out four hits to lead the Tigers to an 11-10 victory over the A’s in a Hamilton Oldtimers’ Baseball Organization 55-and-up division game. Wayne Pryde had two hits and three RBIs for the winners while Tom Manuel and Harvey Sahker each had a pair of hits. Brian Elwood, Greg Stoddard and Keith Howard each belted four hits for the A’s while Tom McGrattan had three hits, scored two runs and had two RBIs. Steve McClure had a pair of hits for the A’s.

HAMILTON HORNETS RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB Senior women were in Fergus playing Highland in the first match of a senior triple header Saturday. Hamilton scored first but the score at halftime was 19-14. Candace DeBoer and Carissa Brown scored tries. Cassidy Smith kicked both converts. Careena Brown scored Hamilton’s lone try in the second half. Cassidy Smith kicked the convert for a final score of 29-20. Senior men’s first team had a tough 20-9 loss Highland in Fergus. Will Redgate scored all Hamilton’s points on penalty kicks. Three kicks worth three points each. The senior men’s second team had a close match in Fergus. It was 17-10 at the half. David Muldoon scored his first try for Hamilton, Jamie Whan kicked the convert and a penalty kick. In the second half Jacob Metcalf and Scott Hendry each scored one try. Jamie Whan was perfect on his converts for the day. The second team won 24-17.
