Burglar flees after finding resident in Oakville home

OAKVILLE — Halton police are investigat­ing after a would-be burglar fled an Oakville residence upon realizing the homeowner was there.

Police say a man kicked in the front door of the home on Joshuas Creek Drive near Upper Middle Road around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

The homeowner was on the second floor, which prompted the intruder to dart. Nothing was stolen.

No suspect descriptio­n is available at this time.

Police are also looking for someone who broke into a storage container at a North Service Road East near Joshuas Creek Drive.

On Aug. 8, police said workers at the site discovered the padlock had been cut off the container. Items including a pump and generator had been stolen. The stolen property is worth about $2,000.

Police said the fence around the constructi­on site was not damaged and it is believed the culprits may have climbed over it. No suspect descriptio­ns are available at this time.
