Bur­glar flees af­ter find­ing res­i­dent in Oakville home

OAKVILLE — Hal­ton po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing af­ter a would-be bur­glar fled an Oakville res­i­dence upon re­al­iz­ing the home­owner was there.

Po­lice say a man kicked in the front door of the home on Joshuas Creek Drive near Up­per Mid­dle Road around 11:30 p.m. Thurs­day.

The home­owner was on the sec­ond floor, which prompted the in­truder to dart. Noth­ing was stolen.

No suspect de­scrip­tion is avail­able at this time.

Po­lice are also look­ing for some­one who broke into a stor­age con­tainer at a North Ser­vice Road East near Joshuas Creek Drive.

On Aug. 8, po­lice said work­ers at the site dis­cov­ered the pad­lock had been cut off the con­tainer. Items in­clud­ing a pump and gen­er­a­tor had been stolen. The stolen prop­erty is worth about $2,000.

Po­lice said the fence around the con­struc­tion site was not dam­aged and it is be­lieved the cul­prits may have climbed over it. No suspect de­scrip­tions are avail­able at this time.
