Who pays if the battery is destroyed?

RE: Make way for the electric car (Aug. 4)

Around 373,000 buyers have made $1,000 deposits on the Tesla Model 3 electric car.

Last year the battery pack for this car was around $10,000. Assume it’s the middle of winter and the temperature is well below zero, we have a power failure and the power is out for more than one day, a not uncommon occurrence in Canada.

The car battery pack is frozen and destroyed. Who pays for the replacement? Is it covered under their limited warranty?

This is a valid concern for electric car buyers. Norman Di Veto, Lynden
